The Glitter Tree

We’ve always had a “glitter tree” in Hodgepodge.  The ornaments from Wendy Addison for Midwest—Seasons of Canon Falls are my favorites (no big surprise), but every ornament on the tree was selected for the qualities it brought to the  tree.

Mercury glass pillars, a platinum hops garland surround the fairy on this mantel display.

This beautiful Santos-style fairy queen holds court on the mantel, as well.

I added one of these beautiful bottle brush wreaths to my own home décor last year.

This little beauty is actually about 2 1/2 feet tall—a wood cut-out with an easel support on the back—she would look lovely at your front door, next to your fireplace or along side of her Father Christmas counterpart, seen here in this post.

These appetizer plates from the Mary Carol Collection are perfect for your table from Thanksgiving through all of the winter months.  You’ll find snowy scenes including squirrels, pheasants, hares and a buck.  They’re displayed on our exclusive reproduction platter rack.

I think I have one more tree to show, but it’ll have to wait until after I show you my new stairwell décor.  After our fire last year, I had to throw-out all of my old stairwell decorations—so I want to show you what I put together to replace it.

The Woodland Mantel

This is the mantel I set-up next to the woodland tree. I wanted to share the Glitter Tree today, but I still need to crop a bunch of images, so here’s the mantel instead.

This mantel has already seen about three incarnations since the Holiday Open House. Displays seem to be changing daily around here . . .items are selling . . . a good thing! But I do find myself getting a little sad when something sells before I’ve had a chance to spend time with it. Weird? I know. But PLEASE don’t let that keep you from buying . . . I’ll get over it!

paige’s favorite tree

 

I refer to this one as the “woodland tree.”

The colors are all of my favorites—browns, blues, greens mixed with shimmering golds and bronzes.

This acorn with the look of crackling ice crystals is only made better with the cap of beads.

Pinecones are a personal favorite—this snow flocked ornament shines brightly with the sprinkles of glitter.  The finial ornament is accented with pine bows and pinecones.

This oak leaf is from the talented Wendy Addison—note the signature glass glitter and twisted wire wrapping.  (Love that lady and her designs!)

This glitter acorn adds a lots of visual interest to the the tree.

A real pinecone dipped in a bronze paint is an amazing focal point for the tree.

Birds are always a favorite, which is true of their cages, as well.  I’m an addict!  Kendall will tell you.  (Oh, by the way, guess who just remembered she left one at the flea market two weeks ago!  YUP, it was paid for . . .)

A glittery, golden bird is right at home in the bountiful tree.

A mercury glass acorn is another version of an obvious theme.

This floral pick is so versatile.  I’ve used it in everythig from table arrangements to the tree.  They’re classic!

This beautiful angel looks as though she were carved from wood, but her resin base makes her a practical choice for your tree.

Okay—why these are still in the shop is beyond me!  I love the combination of the burlap, the crewel work and ribbons—not to mention the tassel!   I think they’re coming home with me.

These golden orbs are great filler for glass bowls or hurricanes—or you can add a hook to hang them in the tree.

One final ornament—the mixed media look of this cute tag ornament is so appealing!

Vintage Inspired Collectibles

I promised Debra, at Common Ground, that I would start participating in Vintage Inspired Friday, but haven’t had a spare moment to create anything myself this week.  So, I’m going to share some of the collectibles of a very talented woman—Debbee Thibault.

I’ve featured Debbee’s creations at my shop ever since I opened my doors in Nov, 2004.  Her talent and personality comes thru in each of her figurines. 

In her catalog, she states, “My work comes from an imagination that was sparked by a love for old toys in my early childhood.  After years of research on the making of antique toys and folk art, I began creating holiday items using similar methods.  The whimsy of my work touches the child that lives in each one of us.  Each piece is completely handmade in a limited edition of 2500 or less.  My designs are recreated in a paper composition, and like a fingerprint, each piece is truly unique.”

This guy is called, “I’m a Little Teapot.”  How cute is this little rabbit?  He’s numbered 63/300

This snowman looks like he’s about to tumble over, his name is “A Little Snowy Guy” is 130/500.

 

This guy is “The Hearty Snowman.”  He’s got the traditional corn cob pipe and top hat!  He’s 1072/2500.

 

“The Keepsake Angel” would be a great addition to any collector’s inventory.  She’s number 1585/2500.
